Митців об’єднували спільні погляди на філософський і психологічний модерний театр.Нова драма, яку творили Курбас і Куліш, відмовилася від слова-дії, натомість головним у ній став показ певної ідеї – історії буття душі, її порухів. Ці зміни світовідчуття фіксує режисура Леся Курбаса й утілює драматургія Куліша.
